Our team is excited to launch this Pilot Episode of the new podcast from Potter’s Inn! Listen now as we gathered around the lunch table to discuss our hopes and dreams for this podcast. Then, hear a excerpts of conversations we had in making future episodes: Kaylene and Gwen talk about Sabbath Keeping, Gwen discussed the importance of our individual story, Steve and Gwen interview Dr. Randy James about the Body-Soul connection, Steve sits with Scott Stearman, a sculpture, as they unpack the shaping of our souls, and Dustin chats heart-to-heart with Kevin Miller, a friend and host of the Ziglar Show Podcast. Finally, we introduce a “Moment to Breath,” which will be contemplative opportunity in each episode to listen to a poem, story, or reading to reflect on. Today, Joe Chambers reads the poem Fire by Judy Brown.
Fire poem by Judy Brown:
What makes a fire burn
is space between the logs,
a breathing space.
Too much of a good thing,
too many logs
packed in too tight
can douse the flames
almost as surely
as a pail of water would.
So building fires
requires attention
to the spaces in between,
as much as to the wood.
When we are able to build
open spaces
in the same way
we have learned
to pile on the logs,
then we can come to see how
it is fuel, and absence of the fuel
together, that make fire possible.
We only need to lay a log
lightly from time to time
A fire
grows
simply because the space is there,
with openings
in which the flame
that knows just how it wants to burn
can find its way.
